In previous articles we have started to look at Hypertrophy (muscle growth) and some of the ways to achieve it. This month I would like to attempt to put some real substance to the discussion and see if we can start to come up with strategies that will actually help us pack on some beef.

You will find that the more you research the elements of muscle growth the more in depth and complicated the subject becomes. For the purposes of this paper it seems sensible to simply cut to the chase and explore how research and science can help us organise our training to achieve the results that we require.

Muscle growth, or Hypertrophy to give it the correct title, is the thing we as Bodybuilders are striving for above all else, it is the fundamental of the sport yet achieving it, for most of us, is extremely difficult which makes us wide open to the claims of some who promise that they have found the “magic bullet” of either a supplement or workout routine that will solve our problems and give us the size and density of one of the top pros.

There appears to be a rustling in the Bodybuilding hedgerows with whispers of something that I thought had been kicked into touch more than a decade ago. However the need for the unscrupulous to make money and the need for the uninformed and /or desperate to resort to the quick fix once again appears to winning out.

Say it quietly but DNP seems to be making a return.

Blood Pressure & Cholesterol
What you need to know

Here’s the difficulty with both high Blood Pressure and elevated Cholesterol, you wont necessarily know you have a problem until you really have a problem. Both conditions can be asymptomatic in the early stages. Please don’t rely on banging headaches, dizziness or disturbed vision to suggest that your Blood Pressure is out of control. Similarly you wont know that raised Cholesterol is laying down fatty deposits on you Arteries until you reach the point of early stage Cardio Vascular Disease (CVD)

A Return to Bodybuilding Basics

We have lost count recently of the number of gym members who have asked us to explain the latest fad diet or training routine that has been promoted in the various magazines available, or worse still, the Internet.
